Book Club
Apply for a Book Club Grant
Start a book club. Build a reading community.
At Access Books, we believe a love of reading grows through connection—shared stories, thoughtful conversation, and time spent with books together.
Our Book Club Grant supports schools in creating small, student-centered book clubs that encourage reading for pleasure and curiosity.
Who Is Eligible
Book Club Grants are available to schools that have already partnered with Access Books.
To apply:
- Your school must have been previously served by Access Books or be on our current service schedule
- If your school has not yet received a library refurbishment, we recommend starting with our
Library Refurbishment Grant
This ensures book clubs are built on a strong foundation of access and support.
What We Provide
Access Books supplies the books so students can focus on reading and discussion.
Schools may request:
- Up to two book titles per academic year
- 10–30 copies per title (based on group size)
- Titles selected for
students in grades 3–5
Books are provided specifically for use within the book club.
What We Ask in Return
Book clubs supported through this grant are designed to be active, consistent, and student-focused.
If selected, schools commit to:
- Holding at least two book club meetings per semester
- Enrolling a minimum of 10 students
- Sharing photos or short videos of book club meetings or students engaging with the books
These shared moments help us understand how book clubs show up in real classrooms and communities.
Why Book Clubs Matter
Book clubs create space for:
- Choice and ownership in reading
- Conversation and reflection
- Confidence in sharing ideas
- Joy that extends beyond the page
They reinforce that reading is something students do together, not just alone.
